Miracles ofJesus Christ and Shirdi Saibaba.

Sri Sainathayanamah!

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you all!

The birth, life and death of Great Masters are always mysterious and miraculous! The Masters exhibited miracles  not for cheap popularity but to show  people the power of The Invisible Divine or God!

Among many miracles performed by Jesus Christ seven are said to be most popular. Here an attempt is made to recollect  those miracles in brief and also ponder on similar divine acts  exhibited  by Shirdi  Sai Baba during His life time, witnessed by many in the recent past of 100-150 years. Wonder of wonders is that these healing and blessings of The  Divine Masters, have been continuously happening.

The first popular miracle happened when Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding party. At the party Jesus changed water into wine when the host's supplied wine was completely consumed by the guests and majority remaining to be served.   The reader can see a parallel miracle in the life of Sai Babe. Baba used to get oil from the village merchants for burning lights in His living place an old majid called Dwarakamai. One  day when the village merchants collectively decided and refused to give oil, Sai Baba lighted the lamps by pouring water into the lamps. To the surprise of the secretly watching merchants the lights burned brightly through out the night.

Jesus healed the son of a royal official in the city of  Capernaum. Shirdi Sai did innumerable such miracles. Sai Baba took the plague buboes on His body and healed the son of G.S. Khaparde a famous rich lawyer; healed tuberculosis and heart patients, healed a boy suffering from chronic cancer.

With a scanty amount of food, Jesus fed 5000 people to the surprise of the huge gathering.   At  death anniversary of a Baba's disciple Balaji Patil Nevaskar,  the family received guests many more times than  invited. The much puzzled  members prayed Baba intensely and served the guests by spraying the miracle ash (obtained from the ever burning Holy Fire called Dhuni)  and covering the dishes with a big cloth. Much food remained even after all the guests had their hearty meal.

Jesus healed a blind man, who was blind by birth. Shirdi Sai did similar healing when an old blind man visited with his grandson named Vithal Yashwanth Despandey. The old man got his eye sight when Sai Baba glanced at him compassionately.

Jesus raised a dead man named Lazarus at a place Bethany. The man came to life after 4 days. Similarly Sai Baba raised a dead woman named Malem Bai in Shirdi. Many hours after her death she came back to life.

Once Jesus Christ and His disciples were crossing the sea of Galilee in a boat and suddenly a furious storm came up. Jesus woke up, rebuked the wind and said to the sea, " Peace! Be still! " , then the wind ceased and there was dead calm. Once at evening time there was a terrible storm at Shirdi. The sky was overcast with thick black clouds. The wind began to flow with great force, the clouds roared and the lightning began to flash and the rains started pouring in torrents. In a short time, the whole place was flooded  with water. All the creatures, birds beasts and men got terribly frightened, and they all flocked to the Masjid for shelter. They all prayed to Baba fervently. Baba was much moved. He came out and standing at the edge of the Masjid, addressed the storm with a thunderous voice, " Stop your fury and be calm. "  In a few minutes the rains subsided, winds ceased to blow, and the storm came to a stop.

Resurrection of the two Divine Masters. The resurrection of Jesus, is the Christian belief that God raised Jesus on the third day after the Crucifixion at a place called Calvary. After His resurrection Christ appeared to different disciples at different places.  Such a miracle happened in the life of Sai Baba. The details were witnessed by  many village people and all the facts were recorded in  " Sri Sai Satcharitra", a biography of Baba.  The following details are taken from " Sri Sai Satcharitra ". "Thirty two years before  Mahasamadhi, in the year 1886 in the month of August, Baba suffered from a severe attack of asthma. To get rid of it , Baba decided to take His Pran or Life high up and go into Samadhi. He said to a close disciple Bhagat Mahalsapati,  "Protect My body for three days.  If I return it will be alright, if I do not, bury My body in that open land (pointing to it) and fix two flags there as a mark!"  After saying this, Baba fell down at about 10 pm. His breathing stopped as well as His pulse. It seemed as the Life left the body. All the people, including the villagers came there and wanted to hold an inquest and bury the body in the place, pointed by Baba. But Mahalsapati prevented this. With Baba's body on his lap, he sat full three days guarding it. After three days  Baba showed signs of Life at 3 am.   His breathing commenced, the abdomen began to move. His eyes opened and stretched His limbs, Baba returned to consciousness again. "
